A Spooky Night (poem)

One night I saw a witch in my room!
She had put on some very strong perfume.
And when I saw her, I wanted to flee.
But just then she grinned nastily in glee!

Then came a ghost,
dressed up like a party host.
And he started to sing,
'I am king! I am king!'

Next came a fat cat,
as black as a bat;
It jumped on the witch's shoulder,
as heavy as a boulder.

By this time I had jumped beneath my bed,
I was creeping while squashing my head.
Suddenly all those creatures disappeared,
Oh! I was in a dream,
thinking of things weird!

The Windmill on the Hill (poem)

I was running on a hill,
When I saw a windmill.
The windmill was big,
And it was wearing a purple wig!

Then suddenly it started to talk,
And before I could blink, it started to walk!
I pinched myself to see if it was true,
Yes, it was as true as the sky was blue.

We talked together for many hours,
We talked about our favourite cars;
We finished talking when it was dusk,
Then I ran home and had tea and rusk!

If I were a Camel

So now that I am imagining to be a camel, let me begin with picking a name for myself. How about Camelin! I would love to live with my mother in the Sahara desert in Africa because it is the biggest desert in the world.

I would perhaps be a nine year old baby camel with a small little hump. And because of that I would need to drink water every two hours. And as you may have guessed, I would spend most of my time near an oasis! I would like to make friends with people who live there and give little children a ride every evening.

My mother could maybe drink up to five hundred litres of water in one day and live without water for a long period. I think it is very difficult and don't know how I will be able to do it.

My favourite food would be sun-dried leaves from trees and bushes. Some times I could eat a really small cactus too. I would like them to be desert-temperature, juicy, crunchy and prickly!

I would like to trample small bushes because I like the crunching sound they make. I will call this game Trample Run!

If I would have so much fun in the desert, then I would love living the life of a camel!

Chirpy's Mango Adventure

I am a little bird and I live with my mother on a mango tree growing in an orchard. I love eating mangoes and little grains that my mother finds for me.

One day while my mother went to find food, I saw a small and ripe mango on a branch next to my nest. I thought to myself "It would be good to show mother a tasty ripe mango so she would be proud of me and my food hunting skills!"

So I reached out my hand to pick the mango, but I fell down from the nest with it. I felt scared and lonely in the forest all alone. I cried and I shouted, but no one came. Then suddenly a girl called Nina came to my rescue! She looked to me as a nine or ten year old girl. I loved her bright yellow shorts and the purple top she was wearing! She said "Oh poor little bird, where did you fall from?" I pointed towards my nest with my bright yellow and orange spotted right wing. Yes, you are noticing it right, we were both wearing yellow! Maybe it was her favourite colour too. And just as I was thinking about her, she interrupted my thoughts and said "So that is your nest. I will take you there." She climbed the tree very courageously and put me with my mango back in my nest safely. I tweeted a thank you note to her. She seemed to understand and said "Welcome Chirpy!" "Chirpy? Is she trying to give me a name? Well, I love it!" She then climbed down the tree carefully using the branches and went home. My eyes followed her as she was walking and I saw that she lived right next to my orchard.

At dusk when my mother came back I told her about Nina. She hugged me tight with her lovely orange wings and pecked me lovingly. After all my adventure I was safe and sound in my nest with my mother enjoying the juicy yellow mango!

Looking out of my window (poem)

As I was sitting in my class,
looking out of the window;
I could see birds flying,
flying away, till they reached a meadow.

There were butterflies,
fluttering about;
I thought they were monarchs.
They were, no doubt!

The sun was shining brightly,
So hot, so yellow!
Fluffy clouds in front of it,
Blowing it like a pair of bellows.

The flowers in the garden,
were very pretty;
They had sweet nectar,
attracting a swarm of bees!

There are so many things
to look at,
Until your teacher says
"Put your book on the table flat".
